PHILADELPHIA - Council-Member-At-Large Allan Domb announced Monday that he is resigning from the Philadelphia City Council."As I announce my resignation from the Philadelphia City Council today, I am immensely grateful to Philadelphians for putting their trust in me to lead, and I am incredibly proud of all that we have accomplished over the past nearly seven years," Domb said in his announcement.He went on to say that the city of Philadelphia is "at a crossroads.""Philadelphia is the poorest big city in the country. We are staring down the highest murder rate in our history.

PHILADELPHIA - Voters in Philadelphia are determining who will likely lead the nation's sixth-largest city in a crowded field of Democratic candidates on Tuesday, as the city faces upticks in gun violence and quality-of-life issues that make people feel unsafe.Five front-runner candidates — including former city council members, former city officials and a grocery store franchiser — have sought to differentiate themselves in a tight contest.The Philadelphia race serves as the latest barometer of how residents of some of the nation’s largest cities hope to emerge from the pandemic, which heightened concerns about crime, poverty and inequality. The results have sometimes been tumultuous in other parts of the country, leading to the defeat of the incumbent mayor of Chicago in February and the ouster of San Francisco’s district attorney last year.Philadelphia voters will choose between front-runner candidates including former council members Allan Domb, Helen Gym and Cherelle Parker; former city controller Rebecca Rhynhart; and political outsider and grocer Jeff Brown.

PHILADELPHIA - FOX 29 and Temple University have partnered to host "You Decide: Philadelphia’s Next Mayor, The Democratic Primary Debate" live from Temple University. The eight Democratic candidates for Mayor of Philadelphia will face off in a 90-minute-long LIVE debate, hosted at Temple University, where they will field questions on the most pressing issues for Philadelphians - from quality of life, to education, crime, and the economy. FOX 29 Evening Anchor Jason Martinez will serve as moderator for this limited commercial presentation, with FOX 29’s Shiba Russell leading a panel including Thomas Drayton and Jeff Cole.
