Tier 4 rules could be in place until "well into February", a Government scientific advisor has warned. Dr Michael Tildesley, a member of the Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on Modelling (SPI-M), which advises the government, said the tougher restrictions will be necessary well into the new year.
He told Times Radio: "I think given the situation we're in at the moment I would be looking at potentially well into February we're going to have some level of severe restrictions. "There's also a lot of uncertainty about this when there's any change of policy but given the rising infection rate I would be looking at potentially at least until early February that we're going to have severe restrictions in place."
