A pensioner set up a meeting at Costa Coffee to sell his £10,000 Rolex watch. He had thought it would be a secure place to do the deal as the cafe was inside a Tesco supermarket covered by CCTV cameras.
But the "buyer" was a snide thief who legged it out of the cafe with the valuable watch after earlier telling the victim he was buying the watch as a gift for his dad.
The trap was set by Jack Frankland who was today jailed for four years. The sentence handed down at Bradford Crown Court included 16 months consecutive in relation to the watch theft in Northwich which the 21-year-old, of HMP Doncaster, had earlier pleaded guilty to.
During the hearing the court was told how the victim had decided to sell his Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea watch, valued at £10,750, on Facebook Marketplace.
