Des Lynam was ‘distraught’ after his former co-star Mark Lawrenson claimed he had Alzheimer’s during a podcast. The broadcasters used to be on Match of the Day together and Mark suggested Des could be suffering ‘Alzheimer’s or dementia’ while on the Off the Ball podcast.
Mark originally claimed: ‘I don’t think he’s too well at the moment. I think he’s struggling a little bit. ‘I don’t know if it’s Alzheimer’s or dementia but he’s not in the greatest of health I’m afraid.’ However, Des’s agent insisted he did not suffer from either Alzheimer’s or any other similar condition.
An insider told The Sun: ‘Des was devastated when he heard Mark had announced this. ‘He’s enjoying retirement now, so the last thing he wants is to be worrying friends
