Sports broadcasting legend Des Lyman was left “devastated” after hearing Mark Lawrenson’s comments claiming he had Alzheimers.
The pair used to work together on Match of the Day during the late 1980s and 1990s. And, during an appearance on Off The Ball podcast, the former Liverpool star said: “I don’t think he’s too well at the moment. “I think he’s struggling a little bit.
I don’t know if it’s Alzheimer’s or dementia but he’s not in the greatest of health I’m afraid.” The neurological disease causes people to suffer difficulty remembering recent events as the brain slowly deteriorates.
But the broadcasting legend’s agent said on Saturday night that Lynam had insisted he did not have Alzheimer’s or any similar conditions.
