And the former Liberty X singer knows first hand what it's like to turn your life around. In 2012, the 44 year old discovered she had the BRCA2 mutation gene, which meant she had up to an 80% chance of developing breast cancer and an increased risk of developing ovarian cancer at an early age.
She was “completely devastated” by the diagnosis and elected to have a double mastectomy, admitting she would have “done anything” to save her life.The star then underwent a total hysterectomy – a surgical procedure to remove the womb – at the age of 35, which sent her body into an immediate menopause. “Going through the menopause was incredibly difficult, especially when it came to my energy levels,” she explained. “But one thing I have learned is that keeping active helps with that.
