(Photo by Jim Spellman/Getty Images) CHICAGO - Jerry Harris, the former star of the Netflix documentary series "Cheer" who pleaded guilty in February to charges of receiving child pornography and soliciting sex from minors, was sentenced to 12 years in federal court on Wednesday.According to a press release published by attorneys representing two victims in the case, Harris will receive an additional 8 years of supervised release following his sentence. "The sentence he received reflects the severity of his crimes and the lifetime of pain his victims will suffer," victims' attorney Sarah Klein said.Harris, 22, of Naperville, Illinois, pleaded guilty in February to two of seven felony counts against him, one for persuading a 17-year-old to send him sexually explicit photographs for money and the other stemming from a trip he took to Florida for to "engage in illicit sexual conduct" with a 15-year-old.

(AP) - "Cheer" star Jerry Harris has pleaded not guilty to federal child pornography charges and allegations that he solicited sex from minors at cheerleading competitions and convinced teenage boys to send him obscene photographs and videos of themselves.Harris, 21, of Naperville, Illinois, was indicted earlier this month in a seven-count indictment that included the child sex, porn and other allegations.

Jerry Harris, the scene stealer from Netflix's docuseries Cheer, shared a virtual mat talk with his 1.2 million Instagram followers on Wednesday.The Navarro athlete tried to ease his fans' fears amid thecoronavirus pandemic with a motivational video urging viewers to stay positive.'Hey ya’ll, this is Jerry from Cheer and I know this is a hard time for everyone right now, but I don’t want you guys to think of this as a negative or a bad time, okay?' he proclaimed in his signature upbeat tone.

We could all use a little "mat talk" from Cheer's Jerry Harris.  On Wednesday, Navarro College cheerleading coach Monica Aldama took to Instagram to reflect on the early end to her team's season due to the global coronavirus pandemic. "I am heartbroken with the circumstances that the world is currently facing," she wrote via the social network.
