PHILADELPHIA - A recreation center in Philadelphia has been renamed in honor of a Parks and Recreation employee killed outside the facility last year. The Mill Creek Rec Center has been renamed the Tiffany Fletcher Rec Center to remember the slain Parks and Rec worker. Fletcher, a then 41-year-old mother of three, was fatally shot when she was caught in the crossfire of a shootout near the rec center in September.  Related According to authorities, the victim was a Mill Creek Rec Center employee and was working at the time of the shooting.She was remembered by many in the community as a hard-working employee who always wanted to help others. RELATED: 'I'm just devastated': More than 100 turn out to honor Parks and Rec employee shot and killedThe family of Tiffany Fletcher, the Philadelphia Parks and Recreation employee fatally shot outside of the Mill Creek Recreation Center, spoke publicly to thank the community for their support and plead for justice.In honor of Fletcher and the name change, the city will hold a renaming ceremony on Wednesday at 1 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney is set to sign an executive order banning guns from recreation spaces as deadly violence continues to plague the city.Guns and other deadly weapons will be banned from public places across Philadelphia, including recreation center buildings, athletic courts, fields, playgrounds and pools.The order comes just one day after the funeral of recreation worker Tiffany Fletcher, a mother who police say was shot and killed by a teenager earlier this month.Kenney called Fletcher's killing "a brazen and unconscionable act of gun violence.""Tiffany Fletcher—a dedicated, passionate, and driven City employee—was struck by crossfire in the middle of the day doing a job she loved at Millcreek Rec Center in West Philadelphia.," Kenney said.MORE HEADLINES:Last month, five people were injured during a shootout that erupted near another recreation center in West Philadelphia. Police say six suspects fired almost 100 rounds then lead police on a chase that eventually ended with a crash.The executive order is set to be signed by Kenney at City Hall at 10 a.m.

PHILADELPHIA - A teenager has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a Philadelphia parks and rec employee, the Philadelphia District Attorney announced. According to authorities, Tiffany Fletcher, 40, was preparing to welcome students to the Mill Creek Recreation Center after school when she got stuck in the crossfire of a shootout between two groups on Friday. PREVIOUS: Philadelphia rec center worker shot and killed, 14-year-old in custody, police sayPolice released new details about the investigation in Da Larry Krasner's weekly gun crimes press conference. Officials say 16th District officers heard gunshots in the area of the 4700 block of Brown Street Friday afternoon, around 1:30 p.m.Responding officers saw people running and officers chased and arrested a 14-year-old man on Perry Street, Commissioner Danielle Outlaw announced. A detective later recovered a 9mm ghost gun loaded with one round in the chamber and one round in the magazine from a trash can on Perry Street, according to officials. As the teen was arrested, other officers located Fletcher suffering from gunshot wounds to both sides of her body on Brown Street. Outlaw says after being shot, Fletcher ran to a nearby business, where they tried to tend to her wounds. Fletcher was transported to Presbyterian Hospital, where she died from her injuries, authorities said. Police say she was outside of the recreation center when she was caught in the crossfire between the 14-year-old and at least one other person.

MILL CREEK - Members of the community gathered Saturday in West Philadelphia to remember a Parks and Rec employee who was shot and killed Friday.Tiffany Fletcher was preparing for students to arrive after school when she was caught in the crossfire during a shootout between two groups.More than 100 people came out to pay tribute to a woman her mother calls a beautiful daughter, sister and mom of three boys and, once again, beg for the gun violence in Philadelphia to stop.MORE HEADLINES:"It’s like she’s here.
