Ramsbottom residents warned of nearly four weeks of roadworks in town centre

A major roadworks project is set to cause weeks of disruption in Ramsbottom town centre. Beginning today (Tuesday, June 2), engineers will be removing an old iron gas main from below the road directly under Ramsbottom Lane.

The work will be completed in two phases with the first set to take around two weeks. Traffic using the junction of Ramsbottom Lane, Carr Street, Bridge Street and Bolton Street will be controlled by temporary traffic lights, with no access to Market Place.

Once that area is completed the engineers will continue to work in sections going up Ramsbottom Lane. Drivers have been warned that the work is set to cause delays but Cadent - the company responsible for the North West's gas network - says measures have been taken to
