81-year-old released under investigation after man hit by car in New Year's Day horror crash

An 81-year-old man has been released by police under investigation after another man was hit by a car in a horror crash on Hyde Road on New Year's Day.

Officers cordoned off Hyde Road (A57) in both directions after the collision on Monday afternoon (January 1), which is thought to have happened at around 4.55pm as a 62-year-old man was attempting to cross the busy main road.

The pedestrian was rushed to hospital from the scene with serious injuries, as an 81-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Try MEN Premium now with our amazing New Year offer...
