Alberta Health said Monday that 39 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported, bringing the total number of active cases in the province to 1,036.

A spokesperson for Alberta Health says the province will continue to offer asymptomatic testing to residents of the Calgary zone as provincial health officials try to catch as many cases of the disease as possible.

Parts of the province are beginning to reopen but there is no timeline yet for when seniors’ centres in Alberta can welcome members back.

The province recorded another 57 COVID-19 cases in Alberta and one additional death on Sunday.
