The former builder was heard asking Todd Grimshaw for help once again after experiencing a difficult day amid living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

It was early last year that Paul discovered something was wrong after he was accidentally knocked over by Carla Connor in her Underworld van when she had been unknowingly drugged with LSD by now-deceased serial killer Stephen Reid.

He kept the news from his loved ones, only confiding in his friend and former flatmate Dee-Dee Bailey before the truth about his illness was revealed to Billy and then the rest of his family.
