Emmerdale star Gabrielle Dowling has spoken out for the first time since her real-life brother left the soap. There were tragic scenes in the ITV soap at the start of the year as Heath Hope died after being involved in a car accident alongside his twin sister Cathy and their friend Angelica King.

The trio ditched the village on New Year's Eve and stole Wndy Posner's car after the families wouldn't agree to take them into Hotten for a party.

It wasn't until later that April Windsor confessed what had happened to Cathy and Heath's dad Bob and his partner Wendy, and they quickly headed off in pursuit of the kids.

In the meantime, Cathy was seen taking the back roads to the destination, much to her brother's annoyance as he told her to go a bit faster as they were already late.
