A Gatehouse care home under a coronavirus lockdown was evacuated on Monday night after fire broke out.Four fire crews raced to the Fleet Valley Care Home to tackle a blaze at the rear of the premises.The outbreak was contained to a small part of the single-storey extension, with significant smoke and fire damage to the interior and roof.Some residents were evacuated to the town’s Murray Arms hotel overnight.The majority, with accommodation in the main building, were unaffected.Station commander Tony Meechan said fire and rescue crews were scrambled between 9.30pm and 10pm.The Daily Record has launched our NHS Heroes campaign to thank the remarkable NHS staff who are on the front lines of this coronavirus emergency.
