There was a big increase in the number of housing projects completed in the final three months of last year, new Central Statistics Office show.
That push brought the number of new dwellings last year close to the number completed in 2019, the CSO said. The CSO figures published today show that the number of new dwellings completed last year was 20,676 - just 1.9% below the 21,087 completed in 2019.
Many construction projects were suspended for several months last year due to coronavirus restrictions. The big increase came mostly from a 45.6% increase in the completion of apartments in the final quarter compared to the same period in 2019.
