PHILADELPHIA - For the second time this month, activists gathered in front of Sharon Hill’s Borough Hall to demand the release of more information on the police killing of an 8-year-old last August.Authorities say in late August, Fanta Bility and her family were leaving the Academy Park High School football field among a crowd of fans when a shooting between two young men erupted. Bullets from that shooting came in the direction of three Sharon Hill Police officers who were monitoring the crowd. The officers returned fire, shooting toward a car they believed was involved in the initial gunfire, striking the car and members of the crowd.

PHILADELPHIA - One-year after arriving in Philadelphia from war-torn Afghanistan, evacuees gathered at Philadelphia's City Hall on Monday to thank officials and share their stories. Saleh Samit recalled arriving at Philadelphia International Airport after leaving behind his native Afghanistan as part of the Kabul airlift. He was among 2,5000 evacuees that came through Philadelphia during evacuation, 800 of them have remained living in the area. Samit said just a few months after arriving in the United States he got a full-time job and is proudly paying taxes. "We left everything behind we just came with one clothes," Samit said.

PHILADELPHIA - The search continues for the suspect wanted in connection with a shooting at the SEPTA station under Philadelphia City Hall. FOX 29's Steve Keeley obtained photos of the alleged shooter from law enforcement sources. This person, pictured in two different outfits, is wanted in connection with a shooting at the 15th Street SEPTA Station, sources tell FOX 29.  According to police, the shooting occurred on Thursday at the 15th Street Station in Center City around 12:30 p.m. Authorities say a 19-year-old man was shot in the chest, stomach and hand before he was taken to Jefferson Hospital and placed in critical condition. SEPTA officials say the victim and the shooter spoke with a third person after exiting a train before the shooting began.Charles Lawson, SEPTA's Acting Police Chief, says the victim and another man got off an eastbound Market-Frankford Line train at the 15th Street Station. According to Lawson, the two got into a verbal disagreement with a third person resulting in the victim and the suspect both pulling out guns. Police say the suspect shot the victim and ran out of the station. Sources tell FOX 29 that the shooter was seen in distinctive yellow sneakers.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a shooting at the SEPTA subway station under City Hall, police say. According to authorities, the shooting happened in the area of 15th and Market on Thursday afternoon around 12:30 p.m. Police say the subway train is being held and 15th Street is shut down near City hall as the investigation continues. Authorities tell FOX 29's Marcus Espinoza that a 19-year-old was shot in the chest, stomach and hand. He was taken to Jefferson Hospital and placed in critical condition, according to police. This is a developing story.

The march began at the intersection of South and 3rd streets, an intersection that recently saw the worst of Philadelphia's gun violence problem. Earlier this month, police say three people were killed and nearly a dozen others were injured when a fight escalated to gunfire.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia students gathered outside City Hall on Tuesday to demand action against gun violence by presenting the finding out a survey that highlight how shootings have impacted the city's youth. The 13-question survey called ‘Enough Is Enough: Students Against Gun Violence’ was organized by Councilman at large Isaiah Thomas and distributed to nearly a dozen Philadelphia schools. While some of the findings showed just how many lives gun violence has touched, other figures revealed shortcomings in the city's efforts to quell the rampant shootings. Over 58% of students surveyed at Strawberry Mansion High School have seen shootings in their neighborhood. More than 60% of students have a family member who died from gun violence. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES"It's one thing for us to feel like we know what to do, it's another thing for the young people to tell us what we need to do," one of the few adults who spoke on Tuesday said. PHILADELPHIA - On a day when at least a dozen people were injured in shootings in Philadelphia, teens at City Hall staged a "die-in" to call attention to the gun violence crisis. Motiva Johnson organized the symbolic event to urge Philadelphia leaders to dedicate a larger portion of the city's budget to community investment programs.Each student who participated in the "die-in" laid within a chalk outline drawn on the sidewalk for roughly two minutes and thirty seconds; one second for each person who has been shot and killed in Philadelphia this year. Johnson and his group weren't the only ones calling for action to combat the scourge of gun violence plaguing Philadelphia. Ryan Harris and members of his non-profit organization "As I Plant This Seed" were organizing a donation drive Thursday. "As I Plant This Seed" offers free programs to youths including boxing, etiquette, self-defense, chess and guitar.

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - The Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota is asking people to not fill bird feeders or birdbaths to help stop the spread of bird flu this spring. In a post on Facebook, The Raptor Center’s Executive Director and Veterinary Epidemiologist, Dr. Victoria Hall urged the public to do everything they can to help prevent the gathering of songbirds. Hall says the country is facing an unprecedented outbreak of avian influenza (HPAI) in wild birds. While most research about bird flu’s effects centers around waterfowl, shorebirds and seabirds, since they are the birds that most often survive the illness, the Raptor Center is concerned about the virus’ effect on raptors as they often die from the virus."During these unprecedented times, we recommend doing anything that we can to try and help our wild bird populations.

PHILADELPHIA - Restaurant owners in Philadelphia had a chance to speak out about new regulations for outdoor dining areas that have become known as ‘streeteries.’The new regulations were introduced in February include an annual $2,000 license fee and a $60,000 dollar security bond. The also included requirements to break down structures before inclement weather and electrical changes that could require the use of generators or installation of underground wiring.The regulations were supposed to go into effect last week, but that meeting was canceled. Restaurant owners across the city want changes made to those regulations and say before those proposed regulations about 70% of the city’s outdoor dining areas would have been able to stay open.

PHILADELPHIA - Several Ukrainian communities around Philadelphia have organized relief efforts to help their homeland that continues to valiantly defend itself against an invasion from Russia. The Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center is collecting thousands of boxes of supplies, community leaders are coming together to help, and businesses are holding fundraisers.Craft Hall in Old City held a fundraiser Thursday where every dollar donated was doubled for Voices of Children.Adam Hornik, Craft Hall Owner, partnered with Ukrainian-born DJ Irene Whoo for the event."This organization provides them both psychological and financial and logistical support to help them deal with this tragedy that they are going through," Hornik said.Whoo accompanied the fundraising effort by playing traditional Ukrainian music that she fell in love with as a youth. "We grew up listening to traditional dance, fun, Ukrainian music," Whoo said. "Lots of instruments lots of horns, violins.  It’s drinking music, my people they are rambunctious and fun and happy."Her family fled Ukraine in the early 90’s during the Russian Occupation.
