The National Public Health Emergency Team will meet this morning to review the impact of Covid-19. It will look at the trends in deaths and the number of new cases and will also review the existing restrictions, aimed at reducing the spread of the virus.
No major changes are expected at this point on restrictions, which are due to expire on 5 May. The Government has also asked the team to further consider proposals for childcare supports, for around 7,000 healthcare staff, who have, or expect to experience difficulties with childcare.
Yesterday health officials reported 77 deaths from Covid-19, the highest number declared on a single day during the emergency here.
