Jurors in the retrial of three teenagers accused of murdering PC Andrew Harper were today told of his "bravery" and the "intense sadness" around his death - but warned they must try the case in a "fair-minded and clear-sighted" way.
The retrial of Henry Long, 19 and Albert Bowers and Jessie Cole, both 18, began today with a judge acknowldgeing jurors may feel "admiration" for PC Harper's bravery but reminding them of their "public duty."
