LAGUNA WOODS, Calif. - Prosecutors in Orange County announced charges Tuesday against the suspected gunman in a shooting at a church in Laguna Woods, killing one and wounding five others.The suspect was identified by OC sheriff’s officials as 68-year-old David Chou of Las Vegas. He has been charged with one felony count of murder, five felony counts of premeditated attempted murder, four felony counts of possession of an explosive device, and felony enhancements of lying in wait and personal discharge of a firearm causing death.

LAGUNA WOODS, Calif. - The heroic actions of a Laguna Niguel doctor who died while trying to save fellow parishioners during Sunday's shooting at Geneva Presbyterian Church are being described by authorities as "literally the meeting of good versus evil."He has been identified as Dr. John Cheng, 52, according to Orange County officials. He leaves behind a wife and two children.Cheng "took heroic actions that day," officials said. According to witnesses, Cheng charged the suspect, 68-year-old David Chou of Las Vegas in an attempt to disarm him, which allowed other parishioners to intervene.

LAGUNA WOODS, Calif. - The suspect in a shooting at a Laguna Woods church over the weekend was identified by authorities Monday.Las Vegas resident David Chou, 68, has been booked on one felony count of murder and five felony counts of attempted murder, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.  Officials said more information would be released at a noon press conference.Chou is suspected of opening fire during a lunch reception at Geneva Presbyterian Church in Laguna Woods, killing one person and wounding five older people before a pastor hit Chou on the head with a chair and parishioners hog-tied him with electrical cords.While officials didn't release any info on the one person who was killed, OCSD announced Sunday that the five people taken to the hospital were all Asian, ranging in age from 66 to 92 years old.Sunday's shooting comes just one day after a man killed 10 people at a supermarket in Buffalo, NY, in what officials are investigating as a hate crime.
