COLOMBO (News 1st); The Head of Sri Lanka’s Catholic Church His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith on Thursday (21) said there is serious doubt as to whether the super-powerful person who obtained all powers in the country, is the reason why a proper investigation is not taking place with regard to the 2019 Easter Sunday Attacks.The Archbishop of Colombo speaking at an Easter Attacks memorial at the St. Anthony’s Shrine, Kochchikade in the capital Colombo, reiterated that one cannot be pleased with the ongoing investigations.“It is now being revealed that Islamist Extremism alone was not behind the Easter Attacks, and that is a Grand Conspiracy.

COLOMBO (News 1st); Easter Attacks conspirators can do whatever they want to secure power, but they cannot protect that power, remarked His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith on Saturday (8).The Head of Sri Lanka’s Catholic Church took part in a protest in Negombo with other religious leaders to voice his displeasure over delayed justice for the victims of the 2019 Easter Attacks.“They tried to blame it all on the Muslim Community,” said His Eminence while stressing that the people must not forget that a conspiracy was orchestrated to carry out the attacks.He slammed the government for failing to implement the recommendations made by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry that was appointed to investigate the Easter Sunday Attacks of 2019.

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Justice Minister Ali Sabry PC said the government has no control over how evidence is led with regard to the cases filed over the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.“Cases are filed by the Attorney General’s Department and the leading of evidence is an independent act by the Attorney General,” he told reporters on Sunday (20).He said the main case is yet to be taken up for trial and it is the judiciary that must act independently on these cases.The Justice Minister also dismissed claims that the government was concealing evidence from the prosecution, however, there are some documents only with the Attorney General and the President as they relate to national security.“The President will decide if those documents need to be disclosed,” he told reporters, adding that the Presidential Commission itself had requested for the documents to be considered before disclosing them.However, those documents do not relate to evidence concealment, said the Justice Minister.

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne, who was in charge of the CID, appeared at the Criminal Investigations Department on Tuesday (21) to provide a statement over the 2019 Easter Sunday Attacks.Seneviratne already testified at the Parliamentary Commission, Malalgoda Commission, and the Presidential Commission that were appointed to probe the 2019 Terror Attacks.Details to follow.
