A Perthshire -based care provider has defended its decision to hike up its fees by around £300 per month during the coronavirus pandemic.
The increase came into effect on Wednesday, April 1, for all 26 care homes of the Balhousie Care Group, including the 10 located in the region in places such as Perth, Pitlochry, Kinross, Crieff and Coupar Angus.
Balhousie made the move as part of its annual review of fees every April and said the move is due to “external financial pressures”.However one Perthshire resident, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed he already pays £3600 per month for a place for his father, who is in his 90s and needs 24-hour care.Speaking to the PA, they added that they only received a letter about the change two weeks
