A pilot scheme for a universal basic income for people working in the arts may not be in place by the end of the year, according to the Minister for Arts and Culture.
Catherine Martin says she will move to set up an oversight committee to appraise the recommendations of the Arts and Culture Recovery Taskforce but she could not say if the pilot scheme for a universal basic income would in place by the end of this year.
The Arts and Culture Recovery Taskforce was set up in September to make recommendations on how the arts and culture sector can adapt and recover from the unprecedented damage arising from the Covid-19 pandemic.
