A Government policy which has denied British children access to benefits because their parents are immigrants is not racist, Priti Patel has claimed.
Speaking in the House of Commons, the Home Secretary defended no recourse to public funds and claimed that it is does not racially discriminate against BAME people in the UK.
Earlier this year judges slammed the Home Office's policy, which stops immigrants being able to claim most benefits, after it left a British child facing destitution.
An 8-year-old boy was left homeless after public bodies refused to help his Ghanaian mother, who had the right to remain in the UK, but without access to public funds.
