Relatives of care home residents are to get regular coronavirus testing to allow care visits, the Government has said. The new pilot will launch on Monday, initially taking place in 20 care homes across Hampshire, Devon and Cornwall, with the scheme being rolled out to other regions before Christmas, according to the Department of Health and Social Care.
The tests - offered to one family member or friend for each resident - could put an end to "heartbreaking" restrictions on visits, when used in combination with other protective measures such as PPE.
