It's a place of hope and of dread, of sickness and of sanctuary. A place that often cares for those in their darkest of moments, those who are experiencing the most traumatic and frightening phase of their battle with cancer.
Like the rest of our healthcare system in the UK, The Christie hospital has been transformed by the coronavirus outbreak. Photographer, Joel Goodman, was given remarkable behind the scenes access to the hospital, while it cares for those in urgent need of cancer treatment in the midst of the pandemic.
The photographs he has taken tell a story of a quiet determination and effort to keep patients and staff safe during the biggest public health crisis for a century.
