Scottish football chiefs have been warned than the August 1 date for the Premiership returning isn't set in stone. Professor Jason Leitch, the National Clinical Director of the Scottish Government, admits the authorities are right to target the date for the top-flight to kick-off.
But the public face of the nation’s battle against the coronavirus crisis is adamant it will only become a reality with ‘a fair wind’ and with people adhering to the rules coming out of lockdown.
Leitch reckons August 1 should only be lightly pencilled in on calendars following Friday’s meeting between himself, Joe FitzPatrick, Scotland’s Minister for Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing, and representatives of football, rugby and horse racing.
