The Metropolitan, West Yorkshire and Devon and Cornwall police forces dished out the most fines during lockdown, new figures reveal.
Almost 17,000 fines have been issued by police forces up and down the country according to provisional data released by the National Police Chief's Council.
A total of 16,947 fixed penalty notices (FPNs), including 15,552 in England and 1,395 in Wales, were recorded by forces up to May 25.
According to the data, the Metropolitan police force handed out the most fines with 1,035, closely followed by West Yorkshire police with 1,032.
