Today we are reporting 7,870 community cases, 393 current hospitalisations, and 13 deaths. The seven-day rolling average of community case numbers today is 6,937 – last Thursday, it was 7,095.

COVID-19 deaths Today we are sadly reporting the deaths of 13 people with COVID-19 – 11 deaths were in the past 48 hours and two were in January this year.

These deaths take the total number of publicly reported deaths with COVID-19 to 1,197 and the seven-day rolling average of reported deaths is 14.

One previously announced death has been removed from our totals, as it was reclassified as not a COVID-19 case. Of the people whose deaths we are reporting today; four were from the Auckland region, four were from Canterbury, two from Southern, and one each from Taranaki, Hawke’s Bay, and Wellington.
