Stockport has closed all its libraries and museums as part of ongoing efforts to tackle the coronavirus pandemic. There have been 10 confirmed cases of the virus in the borough - the third highest in Greater Manchester - although the true numbers are expected to be much higher.

As the government ramps up measures to tackle the outbreak - including closing all schools from next week - the authority has also taken further steps of its own.

These include the closure of all seven of its heritage attractions, these include the air raid shelters, Bramall Hall, Staircase House and the Hat Works.

Also shutting for the foreseeable future are Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery, Stockport Museum and Chadkirk Chapel. And each of the 18 libraries dotted
