Ayr’s two Poundland stores have today been spared from temporary closure.The Post can reveal how the company plans to temporarily close 32 stores after trading today.However, the two stores- in Ayr Central Shopping Centre and the one on High Street- have escaped the list of affected shops forced to shut their doors.Poundland also operates stories in Kilmarnock (two), Irvine and Troon.
They are also omitted from the list, revealed today.It is understood that the company are asking affected employees to voluntarily agree to be furloughed (accept unpaid leave) and staff will receive 80% of average earnings in line with the Government’s Jobs Retention Scheme.Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw has been briefed by the discount retailer that they
