Cabinet to discuss adjustments to vaccination plan

Taoiseach Micheál Martin will meet with the head of the National Vaccination Taskforce this morning ahead of a Cabinet meeting as Government sets about adjusting the vaccination plan.

It follows both the decision to limit the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine to people aged over 60 years and the delay in the roll out of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine across Europe.

Mr Martin will talk to the National Vaccination Taskforce and the Health Service Executive. Senior Government figures insist that all options are on the table including the possibility of extending the gap between the Pfizer vaccine doses.

Some in Government believe this could offer society greater protection against the virus in the weeks ahead. Currently, the interval is 28 days
