The Cabinet will meet this afternoon to sign off on a long-term plan to ease the Covid-19 restrictions. However, it is unlikely that any significant changes to the shutdown will be announced.
The Government will consider the recommendations of the National Public Health Emergency Team. It will then set in place a strategy to try to get the economy functioning again in the months ahead.
It will be measured in three week cycles, but little if anything is expected to happen immediately. Yesterday Cabinet ministers spoke to the Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan.
Several urged him to make a recommendation to allow elderly people exercise outside their homes. However, none of those who attended the meeting were clear if this will happen
