Coronavirus: Andhra Pradesh reports 26 new cases; tally at 226

HYDERABAD: The number of covid-19 cases continues to rise in Andhra Pradesh, with 26 more people testing positive on Sunday.

The total number of cases in the state now stands at 226, and Nellore district has reported the highest number at 34. According to a media bulletin from the state government, the latest cases have been reported from Ongole, Chittoor, Kurnool and Nellore districts.

Most of the cases detected in the last week or so have been linked to persons who attended the religious congregation held at Delhi's Markaz Nizamuddin in March by the Tablighi Jamaat, a sect of Sunni Islam.
