Coronavirus: Waitrose bans couples from shopping together as they clog up queues

Couples can no longer shop together in Waitrose as the supermarket giant insists only one member of a household can buy groceries at a time.

The new measures come as the government warns even stricter social distancing rules could be put in place if coronavirus cases continue to rise steeply.

The “one customer per household” rule was rolled out across all 338 UK Waitrose stores this week. Shoppers have taken to Twitter to praise the move.
