Covid India variant could delay planned review of social distancing rules

Boris Johnson previously said that by the end of May, he would make an announcement on rules such as putting up plastic screens and sitting facing away from each other to reduce the risk of coronavirus could be relaxed, in order to give businesses adequate notice.

But his spokesman on Monday has said that as the decision is based on the latest scientific data, they're currently unable to reach an answer amid the surge of the Indian variant.
