East Kilbride nurse who came out of retirement to help in the fight against Covid-19 has been recognised for her contribution to dementia care.
Mairi Louise Houldsworth from Calderwood is one of six people given special recognition in Alzheimer Scotland’s Centre for Policy and Practice (ASCPP) annual celebration report.The 56-year-old worked at Hairmyres from 1984 before retiring last year from her post as a charge nurse in A&E.But she answered the call in March for retired medics to rejoin the work force in the battle against coronavirus and has worked in a variety of posts since.But it is her work with Alzheimer Scotland, volunteering, her role as a dementia champion and also a co-ordinator for carers at Hairmyres that are among her.
