An actor who fell into a life of crime has been jailed after he was caught carrying two knives on a busy city street. Jason Hoganson, who starred as Geordie character Pete in 1987 movie Empire State, was caught with the dangerous items in his rucksack on the West Road, Newcastle.
The former actor's life spun out of control after his movie role. He went on to rack up more than 95 convictions after falling into a life of crime, drink, drugs and mental health problems.
Hoganson has four past offences for possessing weapons on his record. On this occasion, he was found carrying a large kitchen knife and a small kitchen knife, which he claimed he was taking to his mum so she could use them for cooking.
