A fit and healthy truck driver from Oldham spent five days fighting for his life in hospital after contracting Covid-19. Mick Haslop, 50, started off thinking he had a bad cold but ended up in a coronavirus ward hooked up to a ventilator.
One nurse was unsure he would make it, his wife Tracy Haslop said. But Mick is now recovering at home after receiving top class care from doctors and nurses at Royal Oldham Hospital.
Mick has no underlying health conditions and wanted to share his story to warn others about the impact of the virus, his wife said.
He doesn't drink or smoke and did a marathon hike last year. His wife Tracy told the Manchester Evening News : "It was extremely scary.
