The Irish Airline Pilots Association has called for the urgent introduction of a mandatory rapid antigen testing regime to reopen the aviation sector.
In a submission to the Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications Networks, IALPA President Captain Evan Cullen said that if the Irish aviation sector is to survive the pandemic, then there would be an urgent requirement for progress to be made in Ireland on such a regime, to ensure adequate supplies could be sourced in a timely manner.
He said IALPA was calling for mandatory rapid testing for all arriving and departing passengers and crew, saying it was the best way to secure the industry and offer the necessary protections.
