Mumbai: A fourth of Pune’s population woke up on Tuesday morning finding that they were no longer allowed to leave their homes and apartment complexes until further notice.
Overnight, the city corporation had clamped down on public movement and sealed large parts of central Pune and and Kondhwa, halting all movement from within these areas and to the rest of the city in order to curb community spread of the Covid-19 virus. “We have seen an increasing number of cases in last 3-4 days in these areas," Naval Kishore Ram, District Collector, Pune, told Mint over a phone interview. “We identified hamlets and peth areas, and portions of Kondhwa, Gultekdi and found that the cases are concentrated there.
