A deputy mayor has “temporarily” stepped down after footage emerged of a gathering in her garden during lockdown. The city’s Labour group will carry out an inquiry into deputy mayor Lynnie Hinnigan after a video was shared on social media which showed at least 12 people at her home, where a number of chairs were laid out.
The councillor has denied that any party too place due to the ongoing restrictions put in place to fight Covid-19. She says guests dropped off gifts in a surprise event for her 50th birthday, organised by her daughter. “I really wasn’t aware that it was happening, it was genuinely a surprise,” she told the Liverpool Echo. “Everyone is finding lockdown hard, not seeing family and friends, but everyone should still follow
