Kyle Walker will face an internal disciplinary procedure after breaching the government’s pandemic rules. The Manchester City star broke rules on social distancing and self-isolation by hosting a party at his Cheshire home last week.
Walker moved quickly to apologise for the breach, but the club issued a statement which not only made it plain he will face an investigation, but reiterated the club's stance on supporting the lockdown and protecting NHS workers.
The alleged breach of rules came just hours before Walker – who split from his partner last year – appeared in a video urging people to stick to the coronavirus guidelines to save lives and protect the NHS.
