PHILADELPHIA - A months-long search for a 17-year-old girl wanted for the murder of a man, and the attempted murder of another teen has come to an end, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.Jahme Barnes, 17, of Philadelphia, has been charged in connection to a deadly shooting that broke out near Grant Street and Union Alley in Pottstown on August 28, killing Dakari Rome and injuring a 17-year-old boy.Officials say they found blood stains and several shell casings inside an SUV where Barnes, both victims, co-defendant Kahseem Williams, who was arrested on September 1; and an unknown female were "hanging out" as the shooting unfolded.Messages on Williams' phone revealed a conversation between him and Rome, according to the DA's office:"Yo ask him to hold his gat (slang for gun) once he give it to you tell em he burnt (slang for cheated or deceived) we gon to go in a ride," Rome messaged Williams.Minutes later, Williams messaged Rome, "Tell em let you hold it while I drop him off up there once he do don’t give it back we go slide to citt."The injured 17-year-old reportedly told police he possessed a 9 mm Glock on the night of the murder. Officials say the teen handed the gun to Rome, who gave it Williams, who passed it onto Barnes, who then started playing with the gun and recording herself.Barnes then reportedly fired at the teen after pointing the gun at him, and asking "what else you got?"The bullet went through the teen's hand, and fatally into Rome's chest. The 17-year-old then fled the vehicle as Williams reportedly continued shooting at him. Barnes was arrested by U.S.

NEW YORK (AP) - The latest government study on teen vaping suggests there's been little progress in keeping e-cigarettes out of the hands of kids.The data seems to show more high school students vaping, with 14% saying they had done so recently, according to survey results released Thursday. In last year's survey, about 11% said they had vaped recently.But experts cautioned that a change in the survey makes it difficult to compare the two: This year, a much higher percentage of participants took the survey in schools, and vaping tends to be reported more in schools than in homes."It continues to be difficult to assess (vaping) trends since the pandemic," said Alyssa Harlow, a University of Southern California researcher who studies youth e-cigarette use.Despite its persistence, vaping appears to be less popular than it was: In 2019, 28% of high schoolers said they had recently vaped.Educators say vaping is still a big problem.Anecdotally, the 2021-22 school year was worse than it was before the pandemic, said Mike Rinaldi, principal of Westhill High School in Stamford, Connecticut.

PHILADELPHIA - A second suspect is now facing charges in a shooting that injured two people near Temple University’s campus in mid-September.Late last month, police announced multiple charges, including aggravated assault, against 22-year-old Troy Mullen in connection with the incident. A 17-year-old from Delaware has also been charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy, and related offenses, according to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. The shooting occurred during the early morning back on Sept. 17 at 16th Street and Cecil B.

(Francois Gohier/VW Pics/Universal Images Group via Getty Images)A research and conservation team based in South Africa claims it has captured the first detailed video evidence of orcas, also known as killer whales, hunting white sharks, according to a recent study. Drone and helicopter footage posted to Sea Search Research & Conservation’s YouTube channel shows clips from May 2022, which captured a pod of five killer whales in Mossel Bay, South Africa, actively hunting and eventually killing a white shark. "This behavior has never been witnessed in detail before, and certainly never from the air," said lead author Alison Towner, a senior shark scientist at Marine Dynamics Academy in Gansbaai, South Africa, in a news release. The footage only shows one hunting event but scientists believe at least three white sharks were killed. While killer whales have been observed hunting other shark species in the wild, this is the first time they were witnessed hunting white sharks in the Mossel Bay area, the news release continued.The study also highlighted the evasive tactics the white sharks took in order to avoid predation, also known as their flight response, which has never been observed before.
