The change to the employment standards regulations, announced Friday, will give employers more time to bring back workers laid off as a result of the pandemic, said Finance Minister Scott Fielding. “The sudden economic impacts of COVID-19 are significant and we are addressing concerns we’ve heard from both employers and the labour force in Manitoba as businesses are forced to close their doors and lay off employees,” said Fielding in a release.
