Mass free Covid tests could end in the UK despite fears over a winter surge of infections, it has been reported. UK Government ministers are said to locked in talks over a potential scaling back the scheme which allows Scots to be tested for the virus with no cost.
Scots have been able to order packs of free lateral flow tests to their home - with Scottish Government officials urging people to test twice a week.
Anyone with symptoms of coronavirus can also currently book a PCR test free of charge.Testing has been considered a vital tool in breaking the chains of infection across the globe.The Telegraph reports that free tests may only be provided in high risk settings, such as care homes, hospitals and schools.
