Matt Lauer has claimed he was ‘falsely accused of rape’ in Ronan Farrow’s bestseller Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators.
Last year, upon release of Catch and Kill, Lauer denied allegations that he raped Brooke Nevils in 2014, saying they had an ‘extra-marital, but consensual, sexual encounter’.
And in a lengthy op-ed for Mediate, the 62-year-old has accused Farrow, 32, of shoddy reporting and failing to fact-check the allegations.
Lauer’s critique was sparked by a New York Times piece published this week with the headline ‘Is Ronan Farrow Too Good To Be True?, which questioned the rigorousness of the journalist’s sourcing and accused his work of ‘shakiness at its foundations’.
