A premature baby born in Peru with Covid-19 and weighing just over half a kilogram has been reunited with his mother, who also survived the coronavirus.
Jorge was born on 15 June, weighing just 552g (1.21 pounds), and was immediately transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit and placed in an incubator.
His 27-year-old mother Lissy had earlier contracted Covid-19, but had recovered. Less than six weeks later, mother and son are both doing well and have been reunited.
On Sunday, Lissy was introduced face-to-face to her newborn son in an emotional reunion. Jorge has grown to 930g and has now tested negative for coronavirus.
