An NHS consultant who contracted coronavirus while on the frontlines of the battle against the virus has died in hospital at the age of just 55.
Amged El-Hawrani tested positive for coronavirus and as died at Leicester Royal Infirmary on Saturday evening, University Hospitals of Derby and Burton have said.
NHS England said Mr El-Hawrani was the first confirmed hospital frontline worker to die. Colleagues have paid tribute to Amged El-Hawrani, who died at Leicester Royal Infirmary on Saturday evening after testing positive for Covid-19.
