NHS nurse fighting coronavirus in intensive care is 'fit and healthy' 36-year-old

A “fit and healthy” NHS nurse with no underlying health conditions is in hospital fighting for her life after contracting coronavirus.

The deadly disease has claimed the lives of more than 13,500 people globally, 240 of which are in the UK. Mum of three Areema Nasreen, 36 is on a ventilator at Walsall Manor Hospital, Birmingham Live reports, after contracting COVID-19 while working as a nurse for the NHS.

Her sister, Kazeema, has urged young people to take the disease seriously, and said “it is not just elderly at risk.” Areema, who has worked for the NHS for 16 years, developed a soaring temperature, body aches and a cough before being diagnosed with the virus.
