Controversial plans to permit a huge business park on more than 130 acres of green belt land in Wigan have been called-in by the government.
The Secretary of State has requested a public inquiry into Symmetry Park, the £37m logistics hub planned for land off junction 25 of the M6 near Winstanley, which was approved by Wigan council’s planning committee earlier this year.
The government has also called-in the proposed Parkside freight interchange on the border of the Leigh constituency. Tritax Symmetry, the company behind the Symmetry Park application declined to comment on the call-in.
